Which is the best free keyword research tool for YouTube in 2021?
Just this week Pew Research revealed how YouTube is the most visited Social Network. By a large margin!
But it is also 2nd to Google as the largest search engine. So big in fact that Google now combine results on their first page with various premium placements specifically for video.
So how can your business get enough visibility and engagement through this platform? Because it is no longer a case of “Film it and they will come”.
Keep watching as I reveal nine ways to optimise your YouTube channel and ensure your videos are being discovered, watched and shared. Taking your content from barely visible, to front and centre.
Hi, I’m John. Welcome to Vudini, The Video SEO and Marketing Platform.
Using keywords that inform users and the search engine algorithm what the video is about, is key. It should reflect the topic of your video of course. But you also need to check if people are searching for your topic in the first place.
Here are 4 tools essential for Keyword research. And the good news is they are all free!
First, Google Keyword Planner. With the Google Keyword Planner, you start with the topic of the video you have created. For this video, we’ll go with “Video SEO”.
Second, Check keyword popularity on YouTube; go to Google keyword planner and select YouTube search on the far right.
Remember, you are looking for the most searched for phrases around your keyword. Select a range of short, medium and long-tail keywords.
Third, select a range of Long and short-tail keywords basically describe the different ways people might search for your keyword. Short terms are often more general with loads of competition. Longer key phrases allow you to target a very specific audience and increases your probability of ranking.
Your video needs a healthy mix of different types.
Fourth, Now, within YouTube analytics is the Audience Insights card and this shows video creators other videos that their audience is watching. Here you can find keywords that may not already be covered in your channel and discover new topics that your audience are interested in.
How about a sneak peek into how your competition is presenting themselves via thumbnail, titles, and descriptions? Cool, huh?
Another popular Keyword Research tool is Google Trends.
1. First, enter multiple keywords you are considering and compare their popularity.
2. Once you have that filtered, focus on the keywords that will bring you the most traffic.
3. Then, see which way the graphs are heading for the keywords that will bring you traffic in the future.
You should also check out trends for both Google web search and YouTube search for the most comprehensive results.
Lastly, there’s YouTube’s Autocomplete in the search bar.
You can start by typing in your business product category or topic and let autocomplete make suggestions from YouTube. YouTube tells you what people are searching for.
The closer you match your keywords with the keywords people are searching for, the higher YouTube and Google will list your video where more people, the right people, will see it.
