So is this set in stone? I just purchased a gamers rig with a NVIDIA RTX 3090 24GB GDDR6X (Ampere) , and want to mine ETH when not in use. Did I make a wrong card choice?e

Nvidia limiting its GPUs so gamers can get cards is like Lamborghini putting V4s in their cars so poor people can buy them

It's ok for Nvidia to make billions using there own hardware. That's exactly why their stock prices at nearly $600 a share.
But we the little people are locked out? Should it really have surprised anybody that a corporation is screwing over the little guy to make more for themselves?

The value in the 3060 is only going to go up so much before the overhead makes it pointless or at some point it makes more sense to mine a different card.

Nvidia is just changing the device ID on the chip so the old 470.05 drivers won't work with the new cards

I hope not. It is a stable market and all they need to do is make more gpu's. It has the potential to lift every household in the world out of poverty.

What I find the funniest in all of this, is that they're gunning after miners when we really aren't even the problem. Nvidia is staying very quite about scalpers, who are still the biggest problem here. Besides, all this effort just to prevent mining on the Ethereum chain? Chains going PoS in a year or so, wasting all this effort. And hat happens when we use a different chain?

Imo this is just Nvidia thinking they know what people want, but as usual, not actually giving a single fk about the consumer.

it’s time for miners to build their own grafic cards 😉 shouldn’t be a problem for such a community

Limiting mining on the cards by producer is like Ferrari will sell cars with speed limit to 50km

Miners´re like Russia: Having invaded Crimea, denying that they have, miners deny that they still buy GPUs from scalpers and aren´t responsible for the scalping boom. Every miner´s profit oriented

Why do they say someone cracked the limiter because no one did. We all know Nvidia released a driver that allowed it to mine at Full Throttle. I wish someone actually cracked it

Nvidia don’t want to deal with mining graphic card flooding the market. Nvidia wants to sell you specific mining graphic cards with no resale value. Nvidia particularly hates competition. Gamers wants gaming cards? Cough up to Nvidia. That’s the only source a gamer is allowed to get hands on a graphic cards. They not doing favor to anyone. They just screwing everyone. Gamers should pay rip off prices dictated by Nvidia. Miners should buy from Nvidia and when they can use those cards anymore just dump them in the garbage bin making zero money and buy new ones again from Nvidia with rip off prices. Simple as that.

JUST MAKE MORE CARDS!!! This is dumb to limit them. I am using my gaming PC to mine and think it's my right to be able to use my property in the way that I want to (unless the EULA says I gave up that right). They better reduce the price of these new cards because of the fact that they've removed functionality of the product.

its funny that gamers complain about miners except 80% of gamers now are mining on their gaming pcs or turned into mining themselves.

The sadness its the msrp dosnt exist here in my country. You buy 3060 direcly in the shop/retail for 800 EUR , 3070 for 1200 EUR . I dont know how you can still buy for a 350/400 usd on local shop over there.
