How to make money on stock photo sites without taking a single picture

I’ve been earning passive income from stock photo sites for several years now, I thought I would pass on this little piece of insight.

**Illustrations sell much better than photos on stock photo sites. It’s not even close.**

Let’s face it – if you’re going to compete with professional photographers, you’re going to need some pretty expensive equipment and chances are, regardless of which niche you specialize in or how good you are, there’s going to be lots of competition. You will sell some photos, but not enough to make it worthwhile.

Illustrations, on the other hand, have much less competition and much lower startup costs. And you don’t have to deal with model or property releases – ever!

Here’s the kicker – I can’t draw shit – I’m a horrible artist! So how do I manage to sell 3-5 illustrations per day?

I use the physics engine in modelling software such as Blender (free) and Cinema4D (ape shit expensive) to create 3D typography illustrations – hey, if you can’t draw, get the computer to draw for you!

I now have over 500 illustrations on 5 stock photo sites and sell 3-5 each day – so about $150 a month in reocuring passive income. Best of all, these images will keep earning royalties over the long term. So the more you create, the more long term revenue you generate.

UPDATE:

I was asked to share a sample of my illustrations – so here is low resolution sample:

[This is a better sample – turns out, resolution issue was on my end. ](https://preview.redd.it/aqsrwfalq7131.jpg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e9be2b1dc546b696d229e337fe8963f19c171c36)
