Had a weird interview for Telus International. $38/hr guaranteed 40hrs. See letter below
There’s no way this is legit right? I was asked to chat on zoom or telegram. I’ve always thought telegram was kinda fishy. But I replied to them on zoom. They gave me a few interview questions. And buried in those interview questions was, how would you like to receive your pay, check or direct deposit? I was already a little skeptical about things and I hadn’t given much personal info. So I said DD. He replied, what bank do you use. I told him I didn’t feel comfortable disclosing that at this point. He said it was required. So I told him bank name. There’s a lot of red flags in this email I received:

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Support senior managers and executives with daily clerical tasks
* Plan meetings and take detailed minutes
* Answer phone calls, provide information to callers or connect callers to appropriate people
* Schedule appointments and update calendar
* Make travel arrangements and reservations for senior managers
* Compose and type regular correspondence, like invitations and informative material
* Develop and maintain a filing system
* Create spreadsheets and presentations
* Provide statistical and budget reports
* Greet and provide general support to visitors
* Develop, implement and improve office policies and procedures
You will be enlisted for a 2 weeks training program. Find Training program details below:
*You will have to be online from 8am to 11AM daily for the training program as you will be given a series of tasks during training.
*You will resume work fully after training and your working hours will be 8am – 4pm your time zone.
*Whether or not you have an assignment or task to carry out you will be paid $38.00/hr and for 8hrs a day as long as you are online during the stated hours.
*You have to keep a strict record of time and activities. A time sheet should be sent every Friday’s day for monitoring (In your own format).
*In carrying out any assignment or task a progress report has to be emailed every Friday to your supervisor.
*You are paid weekly.
*There is no startup cost, the training would be administered on line, this is an online based position, and the base pay is $22.00 per hour during training and $38.00 per hour after training.
*Either party is free to terminate at any time with notice.
