GPU Mining Dead – What Crypto is Profitable Today? + 5 reasons this ONE checks all the boxes ✅

GPU Mining is DEAD thanks to the #Ethereum Merge. What can you mine since #gpumining is no longer profitable? Chia Mining (farming) should be something to consider. Here are 5 key reasons to check into #chia especially if you have been getting old and out of date information like “it kills hard drives”. Have you been getting information from folks who overpaid for a 40TB farm at peak and didn’t lambo in 2 months? #asic mining is being targeted by electric companies and the government. The past has happened, what is next is the real question. Shoutout to @Sebs FinTech Channel for the video back in May talking about options post merge.

Any idea on how to start a rack like yours on a smaller scale and scale up over time if it is profitable to do so?

I am afraid of the increasing difficulty of Chia mining over time and do not wish to throw away my hard earned money on something that won't make me money.

I did some small scale Chia mining with CorePool last year before the official pools were released. It was not a great experience.

I've tried other hard drive mining like Signum and BitcoinHD. They were very quick and easy to plot but the returns were peanuts.

My current PC cannot use MadMax plotter for some reason because it stops plotting after a while. I have to use the default Chia plotter and it takes about 6.5h to make one plot. I have to disable bitfield plotting or it stops after a while.

How much did all of this cost you? At the current rate how long would it take to ROI? After amortizing this cost over 5 years (to be generous) how is this profitable?

Mining is dead. The big dogs do what they always do. Buy ownership. There is nothing to mine that's profitable.

You are better off buying whatever you want. That's just how it is. Y'all can keep being hopeful, that's fine. But.. be realistic.

I love the concept of chia farming, but on that note what would you suggest for someone that's interested but doesn't have a whole lot of capital to get started?

A lot of GPU's laying idle. It would be really great if plotting moves to GPU's. I would buy a whole lot more drives.

Right on DS! 1,5 years in, no SSD burned from plotting despite being at 0% probably the first month. No HDDs failed either.

=) wow @0:27 that's a pretty cool farm set up, mine never got that big since I just started GPU farming last year…But have been converting over to chia great video!! ? are you running 2 power supply / power conditioning?
@2:57 what do you mean when you say J-bods? is that just another name for the hard drive carrier thing?
Can you link a video on how to set up the plotter on R720 running unraid/ machinaris using madmaxx plotter to use the ram please and thank you.

I have yet to burn out an SSD for plotting. Maybe that's because I don't have petabytes of storage. I think a lot of the burnt out SSD scare was due to ignorance or people using cheap drives.

Man what a good presentation. Way to wrap all of that up into one video. If that video doesn't convert a bunch of GPU farmers, I don't know what will. Great Video!!

I still have a few GPUs left. Needless to say they're off at the moment, however, they will come back on when it gets cold out. The comparison of heat source prices, gas (furnace) vs. electric (GPUs), is about equal for me. I'd rather fire up the GPUs get some heat and crypto as opposed to spending the same amount for gas and only get heat. As for the rest of my mini-farm, I'm still very bullish on Chia farming and CPU mining. Thanks for another great video!!!

Let's hope that GPU miners understand how profitable is to farm Chia. With this presentation for sure some of them wre now looking for HDD's

Worth noting you can also purchase/download plots to decrease the initial cost burden.

At my peak, I was GPU mining, CPU mining, Chia farming and ran Helium bobcat and Deeper connect, and some mobile phone mining at the same time! Today, my GPU resell value is 50℅, bobcat 40%, 16tib Seagate HDD 70%. GPU mining was cool though as I like the RGB lighting. Best thing about Chia farming is you can game too. However with the electricity prices in UK I had to scale down for the meantime.

It's bitter sweet being a Chia farmer right now, sad that GPU mining is all but a thing of the past, but man it feels great to know that all the investment in Chia over the last year and a half has been well worth it. The Chia team needs to put more effort into clarifying those old misunderstanding about plotting. They also need to re-emphasize that Chia can be done on old refurbished drives that aren't practical to use for persistent storage.
