Do you think there a difference between passive income and recurring revenue?

I’m doing some research on passive income and trying to nail down some definitions. To me, passive income, can require some work or investment upfront, but then it pays out very low, labor income, long-term.

Recurring revenue, on the other hand, may require a significant amount of work, upfront, or investment, but then offers relatively stable income in the long term.

So, to me, real estate, dividend, paying stocks, or a business referral program, could be considered passive income, while building a membership site, affiliate marketing program, or franchise, would be recurring revenue
