Best way to start making passive income online with affiliate marketing

Everyone wants passive income, right? But a lot of people try to make dough through affiliate marketing by just screaming “Buy now” without giving any value.

The truth is, if you don’t provide value, you won’t make significant money.

Here’s what I’ve learned from my experience as an affiliate marketer about what works and what doesn’t.

**#1. Know your stuff**. Affiliate sites are like product/service review sites, and the core of reviews is valuable info. You can’t create thorough comparisons between two products if you don’t know what customers want to know about them.

And you can’t give that info if you don’t have a good understanding of the subject.

People aren’t dumb – you might be able to fool some people with limited knowledge on a subject, but you won’t be able to scale an affiliate site if you don’t really know your stuff.

This is especially important for affiliates in niches like online gambling, which require expertise.

**#2. Choose a niche you like.** Affiliate marketing has the advantage of letting you promote whatever you want, but it can also be a disadvantage if you choose a niche you don’t actually like because you heard that conversion rates are good.

You’ll just end up writing about something you hate, and one of the keys to success is doing something you love.

**#3. Don’t go after competitive keywords.** It can be tough to rank for keywords like “best \[insert niche keyword\]” if you build a site around them. Of course, it depends on the vertical you’re in and how saturated it is.

But, choosing the right keywords and understanding the intent behind them can make or break an affiliate marketer.

One mistake to avoid is using keywords with informational intent in a piece that’s purely written for transactional purposes.

A good strategy is to review new, not-so-popular products and try to rank for keywords related to them instead of old, competitive ones.

**#4. Do your research on partners before you work with them.** Not every brand is trustworthy and will pay out your commission.

For example, in the online gambling affiliate space, there are a lot of sketchy operations.

Check out affiliate forums and stay away from brands that don’t pay commissions or have unreliable, vague, and irrational terms and conditions.
